課程概述 |
The objective of this course is to supervise and direct one MS student on his thesis, and to have regular weekly meetings to monitoring research progress and to write up the manuscript for thesis and prepare for the oral exam. The topic of the research is "A Comparison between Process Model and Statistical Model for Exploring the Impact of Weather on the RIC Yields in Taiwan". This is a very important research topic because food shortage due to natural diaster becomes more and more severe and will cause femine. |

課程目標 |
(1) To familar with the computer program based on the process model Oryza 2000 developed by the International Rice Research Institute.
(2) To collect the weather data such as precipitation, maximum temperature, minimun temperature and others, and the data on rice yields in the past 25 years.
(3) To establish a computer dataset consisting of the weather information and rice yields.
(4) To use the weather data via Oryza 2000 to predict the rice yield.
(5) To apply regression method and time series to build up statistical yields based on the collected weather data and predict the rice yields for a specific combination of weahter conditions and their 95% confidence interval.
(6) Compare the rice yields obtained from the Oryza 2000 in (4) and statistical model in (5). |
